As a songwriter and performer, Kevin blends his lyrics
and arrangements with his high energy and dynamic drive to
create one of the most engaging stage shows in modern country
music.
Kevin's music blends traditional country instrumentation
and classic 70's rock with a musical mixture all his own.
It's new meets old, urban meets country -- gravel meets asphalt
kind of music. Whether it's a dance tune that rocks, a heartfelt
and inspiring ballad or a tune you can't quite categorize,
you just love the groove, Kevin's lyrics wrapped in his
musical arrangements will have you hooked. His voice is
unique, confident and powerful -- much like the man himself.
Kevin's passion is songwriting and performing which allows
him to share his experiences with others. Born in the
melting pot that is Southern California, Kevin grew up surrounded
by not only different cultures, but Los Angeles based musical
talents such as The Eagles, The Byrds, Stephen Stills, Tom
Petty, Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard and Buck Owens. While
some of these artists defined California's rock sound, others
defined what came to be known as the Bakersfield sound; putting
the "western" in "Country Western" music. These artists had
more than California in common however, they had common influences
as well...Elvis, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly and of course,
the Beatles -- all of which would influence the sounds coming
out of Nashville. Kevin has taken these influences, his surroundings
and experiences to meld familiar themes that transcend us
all, into his own intriguing country sound.
In 1994 Kevin formed his country band. He has since been
awarded the California Country Music Associations' Male Vocalist
of the Year. He has continued to grow as an artist and
emerge as one of Southern California's top country entertainers;
setting attendance records at venues throughout the Southland:
the world famous Crazy Horse Saloon in Orange County, the
Brandin' Iron in San Bernardino, Montana's (formerly Western
Connection) and Country Star at the Universal City Walk in
Los Angeles. With these successful performances he followed
with his first CD, "The Window", which he released on his
own independent label, "Haymaker Records". The response to
this project further fueled the fire, inspiring Kevin to write
and record more. He recently released his second CD, "Stones
Unturned", which is now available to fans who have been patiently
awaiting his follow up project and for promotional use.
It is easy to understand why Kevin has become so popular
with Country Western fans. He is charming, personable, an
exciting live entertainer and most importantly, people
respond to him and his music. He has a gift for reading
his audience and knows exactly how to work the crowd, never
turning down a chance to interact with his fans either on
stage or after a performance. For these reasons, Kevin performed
for an unprecedented sixth straight year at the 2002 Riverside
Orange Blossom Festival. Last year's show included Jessica
Andrews, Tim Rushlow and Mark McGuinn. This year featured
Steve Holy, Emerson Drive and Shannon Lawson. In September,
Kevin performed for his second straight year at the Route
66 Rendezvous, performing last year with Lila McCann and this
year with Darryl Worley. In addition, Kevin has opened for
such acts as Bobby Bare, Paul Brandt, Chris Cagle, Ty Herndon,
Sonia Isaacs, The Kinleys, Lila McCann, Rascal Flatts, Julie
Reeves, Riccochet, Tanya Tucker and Keith Urban. Kevin has
performed at the National Rodeo Finals music event at the
MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas and the Hollywood Santa Claus
Lane Parade.
Powerhouse radio stations 93.9 KZLA in Los Angeles and 95.1
KFRG in the Inland Empire continue to hire Kevin as their
featured artist at many of their high profile media events
and concert openings. Major venues across southern California,
Arizona and Nevada request Kevin, anxious to benefit from
his charismatic stage personality and natural ability to command
any size audience. Kevin has been successful in building
a large, loyal fan base, which continues to expand as his
music is heard.
The beauty of country music is the stories it tells and
the many emotions it invokes in each of us. Similarly, the
pursuit of a music career stirs up many moods and emotions;
seriousness and humor, power and sensitivity. It's a rough
road but for someone with a passion and talent for music,
it's a road from which you never veer. And yes, it involves
a little luck. As Robert Collier once said, "All of us have
bad luck and good luck. The man who persists through the bad
luck -- who keeps right on going -- is the man who is there
when the good luck comes -- and is ready to receive it." Gravel
or asphalt, Kevin handles the twists and turns with ease and
is ready for the journey.
